Steve Boerner | Founder & President, Hatch House Ventures

Steve's passion for developing young entrepreneurs led to the non-profit organization, Hatch House Ventures. His entrepreneurial spirit has also carried over to a fashion e-commerce company called Stylin' where he serves as vice president of operations. Steve is a 2009 UD graduate with a masters in engineering in technical entrepreneurship from Lehigh University.

Jon Brilliant | Senior Advisor, Merck Global Health Innovation Fund

Jon possesses a wealth of experience in healthcare, technology and retail as a founder, investor and senior executive. He has served as a board member of over 15 companies that range from startups to over $500M in revenue.

Peter Danby | Instructor

Peter is actively involved in the management of a portfolio of eight distinct operating entities which he either founded, co-founded, or acquired. Since 2008, he has taught a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate finance courses as an instructor at the University of Delaware. Peter graduated in 2006 with a B.S. (Summa Cum Laude) in Finance at the age of 19 and also holds an M.A. in Political Science and International Relations (2008) and an M.S. in Finance (2009), all from the University of Delaware.

Ted Foltyn | Consultant in the Healthcare Industry

Ted’s career has been in marketing and sales management in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries at Johnson & Johnson, after early positions in finance and management consulting. More recently Ted has worked with startup organizations, leading the launch and commercialization of new technologies. He has a passion for helping students prepare for the business world by identifying career options and paths. Ted graduated from UD with degrees in economics and finance and then received his MBA in finance from Northeastern University.

Dan Freeman, Ph.D. | Associate Professor, Marketing & Director, Horn Program in Entrepreneurship

Dan has transformed the Horn Program into the mid-Atlantic’s preeminent entrepreneurial education provider. He has helped to raise more than $3MM in the last 12 months & also co-founded Start It Up Delaware, Inc. 

Scott Jones, Ph.D. | Professor & Department Chair, Accounting & MIS

Scott created the Entrepreneurial Studies Program & established the Venture Development Center. He also serves as CFO, Pair Technologies, LLC.

Robin Karol, Ph.D. | Co-founder, Mission Driven Innovation Group

Former CEO/Executive Director of the Product Development Management Association and Director of Innovation Processes at DuPont.

Tony Middlebrooks, Ph.D. | Associate Professor, Organizational & Community Leadership

Tony creates tools, explores and teaches at the intersection of leadership, innovation, creativity and design. He has assisted with the development of the Horn Program's Master of Science program in Entrepreneurship and Design.

Keith Modzelewski, MBA | Co-founder/CEO, Voltaic Coatings, Inc.

Keith has taught entrepreneurship as part of the Startup Chile Incubator Program and has been honored as a Global Scholar by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation.

Linda O'Hara, Ph.D | Instructor, Horn Program in Entrepreneurship

Linda received her MBA from Harvard and her Ph.D from Yale, in Social Psychology. She has been a integral part of developing the curriculum for the Horn Program's Diamond Challenge for High School Entrepreneurs.

Jill Pante | Assistant Director, Career Services

Jill directs the satellite office of the UD Career Services Center within the Lerner College of Business & Economics and possesses 8+ years experience in career development.

Mona A. Parikh, Esq. | Founder & Managing Partner, Parikh Law, LLC 

Mona recently learned to code in Ruby on Rails at the The Starter League in Chicago. She also manages The coIN Loft, Delaware’s only coworking space.

Matt Swanson, MBA | Co-founder/President, FineStationary.com

A graduate of the Wharton School, Matt co-founded and grew FineStationary.com to more than $10MM in annual revenue, resulting in its 2011 strategic acquisition by 1-800-Flowers. Matt also serves as Chairman, Innovative Schools.

Matt is an experienced entrepreneur and business development professional who recently completed Steve Blank’s Lean Launch Pad Workshop at Stanford University.

The Institute for Financial Services Analytics is a collaboration between the Lerner College, UD's College of Engineering and JPMorgan Chase, and hosts events for academics and the business community designed to address consumer analytics and industry applications.

All Lerner College departments offer discovery learning experiences and emphasize data-based analytics to enrich the student experience. Here, students at Vita Nova, our award-winning restaurant run through HRIM, joined professional chefs and winemakers in hosting a 2014 Mid-Atlantic Wine and Food Festival event.

Lerner College faculty - like Meryl Gardner, whose research on foods and moods was recently published in the Journal of Consumer Psychology - are thought leaders who command attention from influential business audiences, economists and policy makers.
