Lifelong Lerner: Alexander Bushinsky

Alex Bushinsky, a member of UD’s Lerner Class of 2022, shared his favorite UD memories, how he has grown during his time at UD and his plans following graduation.

As a member of the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics’ Class of 2022, Alexander Bushinsky, dual MBA + MS electrical and computer engineering program graduate from Allentown, Pennsylvania, has not had the typical student experience at UD due to the coronavirus pandemic. Bushinsky, and his entire class, have shown incredible resilience, maturity and spirit while adjusting to the many unexpected changes that they have encountered as students. Each installment of this series will profile an outstanding member of this class, showcasing their achievements, experiences at UD and what it means to be a Blue Hen.

Bushinsky was nominated for this series by UD Associate Professor of Marketing Michal Herzenstein, who said, “Alex is a fifth year undergrad who majored in engineering and was also a Resident Assistant at the dorm. He is super smart and very thorough.”

In this profile, Bushinsky shared his favorite UD memories, how he has changed during his time at UD and his plans following graduation.

Lerner: How have you grown from your first year at UD to now?

Bushinsky: Throughout my undergraduate experience, I have learned to try new things and develop my network so that I feel supported and have the resources I need to succeed.  Additionally, I feel more comfortable taking the initiative and learning that I enjoy leading teams to accomplish a shared goal.

Lerner: Were you involved in any extracurricular activities? If so, how did they shape your experience at UD?

Bushinsky: Yes, I was president of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Honors Society, Eta Kappa Nu. This role helped me to develop my leadership capabilities and build new connections with my professors and the engineering community.

Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?

Bushinsky: Being a Lifelong Lerner means always seeking new knowledge to grow my leadership and character. Also, always gathering new information so that I can make a positive lasting impact on my team and those close to me

Lerner: What was the most memorable course that you took at Lerner?

Bushinsky: Dr. Herzenstein’s marketing management class. I enjoyed this course because she combined real world problem sets with applicable statistical tools to solve these problems.  These tools will also benefit me in solving problems outside of the business space.

Lerner: What was your favorite UD experience?

Bushinsky: My favorite undergraduate UD experience was the opportunity of developing my leadership skills as a RA during undergrad. I also developed my support network and my group of close friends while in this role.

Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?

Bushinsky: After graduating from the dual MBA + MS electrical and computer engineering program, I plan to receive my third masters in cybersecurity here at UD while in my Graduate Hall Director role through Residence Life and Housing.
