Application Deadlines

All associated, required application documents must be received and ready for review by the application deadlines.

Fall Admission 2018

The program admits students every other year. The next class of students will begin Fall 2018.

Admissions Requirements

1. Application Fee

A $75 application fee is due when you submit your online application.

2. Bachelor’s Degree

A four-year U.S. bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any academic field from an accredited college or university with a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale is required.

3. Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate coursework is required with your application. Do not mail official transcripts during the applicant stage. An English translation must accompany transcripts issued in a language other than English.

4. Resume

A resume or curriculum vitae documents your prior work experience, publications, honors and awards received and a summary of your educational credentials.

5. Prerequisites

Candidates for admission need not have majored in any specific field, but well-qualified students will have:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Substantial quantitative coursework and/or hands-on experience with software development

6. GRE or GMAT Scores

Both GRE and GMAT test scores are acceptable. You need at least the following scores to be competitive:


  • Quantitative: 163
  • Verbal + Quantitative: 307


  • Quantitative Raw Score: 50
  • Total Score: 670

7. Personal Statement

A personal statement or essay consisting of the answers to the following questions:

  1. What educational background and scientific research or employment experience prepare you for this degree program?
  2. What are your long-term professional objectives?
  3. What specific attributes of the program make you feel that this degree is appropriate to help you achieve your professional objectives?

8. Three Letters of Recommendation

Recommendation forms are emailed directly from the online application to the three recommenders whose names and email addresses you provide. Instructions for returning the completed forms is included in the emails.

At least one letter must be from a professor, other letters can be from employers or others who have had a supervisory relationship with you and are able to assess your potential for success in graduate studies.

9. International Students: Language Test Requirement

International applicants must submit one of the following:

  1. Proof of having earned a degree in either the United States or a country where the primary language is English;
  2. TOEFL score of 90 or higher on Internet-based tests; or
  3. IELTS score of 6.5 or higher overall, with no individual sub-score below 6.0
