
Heather Tansley, Ed.D., LPCMH, is director of communications for the University of Delaware’s Division of Student Life and an adjunct instructor in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. An educator, higher education communications leader and licensed professional counselor, she has more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, student engagement, program development, digital marketing, assessment and leadership development.
Since joining UD in 2012, Dr. Tansley has held leadership positions of increasing responsibility in communications, operations and student success. Her academic and professional work focuses on helping students achieve personal, academic and career success through innovative learning experiences and effective communication practices.
Dr. Tansley has taught courses in academic success, executive presentations, critical thinking, goal-setting, entrepreneurship and professional development. Before working in higher education communications, she held counseling and community relations positions in the mental health field and operated a private practice. More recently, she has reviewed AI-generated responses and created tasks for an organization that trains and evaluates artificial intelligence systems.
Dr. Tansley serves on the leadership team of the NASPA Fundraising and Communications Knowledge Community and the executive committee of the Delaware ACE Women’s Network. She is also president of the board of directors for Hope Renewed Support Services Inc. Services, Inc.
