Biography

Biography

The University of Delaware has been Jim Kaden’s home for over thirty years. He was hired in 1995 to work in the athletics department as supervisor of events, which included handling all football operations for Coach Tubby Raymond.

He has assisted and coordinated several conference and NCAA post-season events and was the tournament director for the North Atlantic Conference Swimming Conference Championships and America East Baseball Tournament during his tenure in the UD athletic department.

While director of the ice arena, he was the tournament director for the 1999, 2011 and 2014 American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Men’s National Ice Hockey Championships and the 2014 ACHA Women’s National Ice Hockey Championships. Kaden has overseen numerous facility and capital improvement projects for the ice arenas and outdoor pool during his tenure. In addition, several skaters have competed at the Winter Olympic Games.

An avid baseball fan, he played college baseball at Siena College where he was a four-year starter, served as team captain his senior year, and was a member of the 1992 & 1993 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic Team as well as the1993 CoSIDA Academic District I team.

He was the associate AD, director of the ice arena and outdoor pool since 1997 and has over 30 years experience in college athletics. Jim has taught as an adjunct professor at the university since 2008, having taught the following classes: SPTM 210 Introduction to Sport Management, SPTM 311 Practicum of Sports Management, SPTM 314 Financial Aspects of Sport Management, SPTM 315 Legal Aspects of Sports Management and SPTM 418 Sport Event and Facility Management.
