Jeff McLaughlin began teaching at the University of Delaware in January 2022. In addition to teaching, Jeff is also the Executive in Residence for the Department of Accounting and MIS, whereby he provides career advice and guidance to accounting majors. Jeff graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.S. in accounting and a minor in management information systems in 1984.
Jeff is a retired audit partner from KPMG’s Philadelphia office. Jeff joined KPMG as a partner in 2002 after spending his first 18 years with Arthur Andersen. His first 3 years were in Baltimore and the next 15 were in Philadelphia, where he made partner in 1998. Jeff has 36 years of experience serving public and privately held consumer and industrial market companies. He was the partner in charge of the consumer and industrial markets practice and KPMG’s private markets group for the Philadelphia office. Jeff was also responsible for KPMG’s recruiting activities at the University of Delaware.
During his career, Jeff had significant experience with mergers and acquisitions as well as internal control assessments. Most of Jeff’s clients were international in scope, earning him significant experience as both the lead partner on large public company engagements and as the engagement partner on significant U.S. subsidiaries of large multinational companies. Jeff advised clients on the application of complex U.S. generally accepted accounting principles and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and he was a designated IFRS reviewing partner. Jeff also has significant experience with initial public offerings, secondary offerings and registered debt offerings.
