Biography

Biography

Laura Ahlstrom joined the CEEE in 2024 as a postdoctoral researcher. After earning her Ph.D. in economic education from the University of Delaware in 2018, she served as an assistant professor of economics at Oklahoma State University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social studies secondary education and a master’s degree in history. Prior to completing her doctorate, Laura taught high school social studies, including AP microeconomics and AP macroeconomics. Her research specializes in economic education with a focus on teaching and assessment methods in undergraduate economics courses and improving diversity among undergraduate economics majors. Her scholarly work has appeared in academic journals such as the AEA Papers and ProceedingsThe Journal of Economic Education and the International Review of Economics Education. She is an associate editor for The American Economist and co-editor of War Movies and Economics: Lessons from Hollywood’s Adaptations of Military Conflicts. Laura is a member of the AEA Committee on Economic Education and the recipient of the Researcher Award and the Phil Saunders Best Economic Education Paper Award from the National Association of Economic Educators.
