Rachel Cowit graduated from University of Delaware in 2006 with a bachelor’s in hotel, restaurant and institutional management. During school, she found her passion for catering and event planning.
After leaving school, she started working for Restaurant Associates, under Compass Group at Winterthur Museum in Delaware as a catering and café manager. From there she moved to Legg Mason, a corporate catering job in Baltimore, Maryland still with Restaurant Associates. After that, she did catering at the Bronx Zoo where they hosted a variety of social events and weddings.
She returned to Delaware to work for University of Delaware catering with Aramark on UD campus. She has moved up positions from manager to VIP manager and is now the assistant director of catering.
While returning to work on campus, she realized how much she enjoyed her time here as a student and wanted to be able to help impact students about catering and her experiences. She was able to come back and teach the catering management course at UD and is pleased to be an influence for students interested in the world of events. She has also been part of the Lerner Mentorship Program for several years and enjoys helping students find their paths forward.
