Graduate Student Stories: Trinity Moody

Trinity Moody is from New Castle, Delaware and is expected to earn her MBA in 2026. She shared why she chose Lerner to continue her studies and some memorable moments in the program.

Lerner: Why did you go back to pursue your graduate degree? Why did you choose the Lerner College for your studies?

Moody: I wanted to pursue an MBA degree because I have plans on starting my own business in the near future. It is important to me that I learn all that is necessary in order to be a great business owner. I decided to choose the Lerner College program because of the range of various majors and concentration options. Also, I was very intrigued by the online program.

Lerner: What did you learn through this opportunity that you wouldn’t have learned anywhere else?

Moody: I have learned the importance of not only networking but building genuine relationships.

Lerner: Please share an example of a course or concept that you were able to apply directly to your life and/or career.

Moody: I am currently enrolled in the Principles of Strategic Communication course and am already loving it! After reading the first chapter of the textbook, I was quickly able to apply what I had learned to my real life. Understanding the importance of relationship building, awareness, and persuasion is integral to becoming an effective communicator even in our day-to-day lives.

Lerner: Describe an important connection you have made through your graduate program (personal, professional, peers, mentors, professors, etc.)

Moody: Being that I am an online student, it has been a bit difficult to build strong connections with others at UD. Nevertheless, I have taken the steps I can to open myself up to creating those types of connections in the future!

Lerner: If you were to describe your classmates in one word, what would that be and why?

Moody: I would describe my classmates as open-minded. I believe that you cannot be a close-minded individual if you desire to pursue a career in business administration. You must be someone who is able to consider multiple options and ways of thinking in order to be successful.

Lerner: How do you balance your career with your studies?

Moody: I am currently not working, but am seeking employment.

Lerner: Fill in this sentence: “My graduate program helped me become…”

Moody: My graduate program helped me to become bolder.

Lerner: What was the most impactful hands-on project or case competition that you were able to participate in?

Moody: I have yet to participate in a case competition or project, but I have already had a lot of opportunities to collaborate with a group. Last semester I took Fundamentals of Analytics and a lot of classwork was group based. The experience was very eye-opening and impactful for me because I was able to hone in on leadership skills. I was also able to understand the importance of taking a backseat and allowing others to lead as well.

Lerner: What are your plans or next steps for the future?

Moody: I am planning on going to law school after receiving my MBA. I am also excited to take the next steps on my personal entrepreneur journey!
