Lerner College Celebrates Class of 2025

Graduates from Class of 2025

Congratulations to the graduates of the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics! It was a wonderful weekend celebrating our more than 1,400 Lerner College graduates from the Class of 2025 including undergraduate, master’s and doctoral students.

Convocation for master’s students was held on Wednesday, May 21 and the doctoral hooding for our Ph.D. program graduates was held earlier that day. Convocation for undergraduate students from the Lerner College Class of 2025 was held on Friday, May 23.

“The Class of 2025 is graduating during the most transformative time in Lerner’s history,” said Lerner College Dean Oliver Yao. “They’ve not only adapted to change, they’ve helped lead it. As we launch a bold new strategic plan and expand our vision for the future, this class stands as a symbol of what’s possible when talent, purpose and perseverance come together. 

“They’ve balanced academics with work, athletics, service and leadership, all while navigating a rapidly changing world,” Yao continued. “I’m proud of all they’ve accomplished and confident in the impact they’ll make.”

Lerner alumnus Beth Cooper, who earned an MBA in 1996 and is the executive vice president and chief financial officer, Chesapeake Utilities Corporation, served as the master’s Convocation speaker. Lerner alum Paul Altero, Class of 1996 with a bachelor of science in management, co-founder and chief executive officer, Bubbakoos Burritos, served as the undergraduate Convocation speaker.

The Class of 2025 Lerner Convocation information can be found on the UD Commencement website. On Saturday, the Commencement for the entire UD Class of 2025 was held in Delaware Stadium with Matt O’Donnell, co-anchor of Action News Mornings in Philadelphia and UD graduate, as the Commencement speaker.

This year, we also celebrate more than 60 members of the Class of 2025 who were nominated by faculty and staff at the Lerner College for their outstanding contributions throughout their time at the College.

These students have shown incredible resilience, maturity and spirit while adjusting to the many unexpected changes that they have encountered during their years at UD. Each installment of this series shares the story of an outstanding member of this class, showcasing their achievements, experiences at UD and what it means to be a Blue Hen.
