The Lerner College Offers New Programs in Fintech, 4+1, MBA and Financial Services Analytics

Under the direction of Dean Oliver Yao, the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics at the University of Delaware is offering the following new programs beginning in the fall 2024 semester:

Undergraduate

B.S. in Fintech, Minor in Fintech

Lerner’s new bachelor’s program in fintech combines traditional finance education with advanced training in programming, machine learning, data science and analytics.The Lerner B.S in fintech is one of the first undergraduate fintech programs in the nation offered by AACSB-accredited business schools.

Lerner’s fintech minor provides a solid foundation in finance while honing skills in programming, machine learning, data science and analytics.

Accelerated Degree Programs (4 + 1)

The accelerated programs at the Lerner College are open to current UD students. The program enables students to study one year beyond their bachelor’s degree to earn a master’s degree.

Graduate 

MBA, Dual Degrees: MBA + M.A. in Strategic Communication & MBA + M.S. in Computer Science

The Lerner College has reduced the number of credits to earn an MBA to 38 credits from 44 and is offering two new majors in public relations and digital and social media. It has also created two new graduate dual degree programs. The MBA+ M.A. in Strategic Communication in partnership with UD’s Department of Communication and the MBA + M.S. in Computer Science in partnership with the Department of Computer and Information Sciences.

M.S. in Financial Services Analytics

The master of science in financial services analytics (FSAN) is a joint effort of UD’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and the College of Engineering, designed in response to the growing needs of the industry and the popularity of UD’s Ph.D. in FSAN program. The rigorous curriculum is designed around three core areas of study: financial risk management, financial operations and financial management.

M.S. in Hospitality and Sport Business Analytics

Lerner’s master of science in hospitality and sport business analytics equips students with the analytical skills and industry expertise needed to thrive in some of the fastest-growing sectors of the US economy: hospitality, sports and leisure. 

Graduate Certificates

Business Fundamentals

Lerner’s graduate certificate in business fundamentals is designed to help working professionals and others gain advanced knowledge and skills in business. This certificate program is intended for individuals who wish to develop new or hone existing skills to keep pace with the changing business landscape so they may advance or redirect their careers.

Generative AI for Business

Lerner’s graduate certificate in generative AI is designed for professionals looking to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. This program equips them with essential AI skills without requiring prior technical expertise, ensuring they remain competitive and innovative in their field.
