Sherry Kumar: So, the reason why I chose MIS is because I started off as an engineering major at UD and I was able to take a computer coding class for engineers specifically. That’s where I was introduced with Python but I realized I wanted to do more data analysis and less programming specifically.

Lorenzo Andaya: My favorite class is MISY 330 Database Design and Implementation because I like working with SQL which allows me to work with big data sets with other people to find interesting information that has practical business implications.

Brad Bacci: I’ve had a few different internships, all very different. One supply chain management. One was actually in the energy field and the other one was a consulting role. And the knowledge I had just from my general MISY classes really helped me because I was able to use formulas and functions to look at data differently and get a better knowledge of what the company was actually looking for.

Kumar: I think the coolest thing about MIS is the projects we get to do. One of them includes using Kaggle datasets, which can be, which is just a ton of data sets that people put online. So they can be anything about diabetes demographics in the United States to election poll results and we get to use all these different platforms like Python and HTML, and C+ and everything just to analyze these data sets and I think it’s really cool how the MIS program allows us to have these real life experience and applications that helps us prepare for the future.

Andaya: My favorite experience was my internship this past summer with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals. I used the interview skills I that honed throughout my coursework in order to land my internship. Once I landed my internship, I used my teamwork experience to complete a project with other interns that we presented to the rest of the company. I also met some UD alumni throughout my time as well.
