Lifelong Lerner: Charlene Alouf

As a member of the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics’ Class of 2022, Charlene Alouf, an MBA graduate from Media, Pennsylvania, has not had the typical student experience at UD due to the coronavirus pandemic. Alouf, and her entire class, have shown incredible resilience, maturity and spirit while adjusting to the many unexpected changes that they have encountered as students. Each installment of this series will profile an outstanding member of this class, showcasing their achievements, experiences at UD and what it means to be a Blue Hen.

Alouf was nominated for this series by UD Academic Program Coordinator Amy Estey, who said, “She completed her degree while also juggling work, school, family, and everything else during a pandemic. The flexibility of the Online MBA made her successful completion possible.”

In this profile, Alouf shared her favorite UD memories, how she has changed during her time at UD and her plans following graduation.

Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?

Alouf: Much like my passion and pride I have for graduating from Union College and Albany Medical College, I feel the same from completing my MBA at the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics.

Lerner: What was the most memorable course that you took at Lerner?

Alouf: The courses that I took with Dr. Jack Baroudi and Dr.Fei Xie. Both were outstanding professors and our entire class appreciated their energy. It was palpable! We looked forward to our weekly Zooms.

Lerner: What was your favorite UD experience?

Alouf: My favorite experience was getting to know other students, even though it was online, that I still communicate with to this day.

Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?

Alouf: After graduation, I plan on continuing to work in reproductive medicine, infertility and genomics.
