Fei Xie, professor of finance at the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics, has been appointed the Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance, recognizing his scholarly achievements and contributions to the field of corporate governance.
Xie, who previously held the Chaplin Tyler Professorship, also serves as faculty director of research in corporate governance. He will continue to serve as associate chairperson in Lerner’s Department of Finance.
The Edgar S. Woolard Jr. Chair in Corporate Governance supports excellence in teaching and research in corporate governance and is designed to strengthen connections between Lerner College and corporate and legal communities in Delaware and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The endowed position also provides a platform for increasing the visibility and impact of Lerner’s corporate governance scholarship.
As faculty director of research in corporate governance, Xie will work to connect, encourage and showcase research taking place across Lerner in this area. He will also continue to support the work of the John L. Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance, strengthening connections among the center, Lerner faculty and the broader corporate governance research community.
Xie’s research examines corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and executive compensation. His scholarship has contributed to the understanding of how governance structures and corporate decision-making affect companies and their stakeholders.
Through his new roles, Xie will help expand the visibility of corporate governance research across Lerner and create opportunities for greater collaboration among faculty, researchers and the corporate governance community.
