A native of Haryana, India, graduate student Navdeep Nain graduated from the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics as a business analytics major.

Nain was nominated for this series by Academic Program Coordinator Andrea Hartman.

In this profile, Nain shares his favorite UD memories, how his has changed during her time at UD and his plans following graduation.

Lerner: How do you think you have changed from your first semester at UD to now?

Nain: Over time, I’ve undergone significant growth, particularly through experiences like internships and exposure to diverse courses like economics and corporate strategy. This journey has bolstered my confidence, honed my logical thinking, and notably enhanced my management skills.

Lerner: What have been some of the challenges you have faced during your college experience and how did you overcome them?

Nain: During my college experience, I encountered several challenges, such as managing heavy workloads, balancing academic and extracurricular activities, and adapting to new learning environments. However, I tackled these obstacles by actively acquiring technical skills, collaborating with diverse groups, and adhering strictly to deadlines.

Lerner: What was your favorite signature UD experience and why?

Nain: My favorite UD experience was attending intramural competitions, bonding with peers, and staying active. Events like the Wall Street Bootcamp and mentoring program offered valuable insights and networking opportunities, enriching my academic journey and shaping my career path. Overall, these experiences enhanced my skills, created lasting memories, and forged valuable connections.

Lerner: Did you have a Lerner professor or staff member that had a big impact on your UD experience? If so, who and how?

Nain: I credit Andrea Hartman for her assistance in scheduling my coursework, Professor Xie Fei for teaching finance, and Sarah Baker for helping me find internship opportunities. All three had a significant impact on my UD experience.

Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?

Nain: A “Lifelong Lerner” is someone who embraces chances for learning and development on both a personal and professional level and who actively pursues information, development, and progress throughout their life.

Lerner: What advice would you give to incoming freshmen to make the most out of their college experience?

Nain: My straightforward advice to incoming freshmen is to get engaged, make good use of your time, and ask for assistance when necessary. Try new things and get out of your comfort zone; this might include going to clubs or studying overseas. Establish connections with mentors, instructors, and fellow students. Give your physical and emotional well-being first priority. Explore internship and professional options as soon as possible to prepare for the future. Above all, relish the trip and maximize your college experience – this is an opportunity for personal development, learning, and making lifelong memories.

Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?

Nain: I am going to start my professional journey as a data analyst/product manager.
