Business Essentials
Successful professionals rely on their knowledge of the fundamentals of accounting, finance, economics and management regardless of their field of endeavor.
The certificate of business essentials is right for you if:
- You’re a UD student in a degree program in economics or those outside the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics and would like to earn a business-related certificate to complement your bachelor’s degree, or
- You’re a returning adult student or working professional interested in building your knowledge and credentials.
Completion of the certificate program earns a minimum of 13 academic credits.
Flexible Format, Including Online Courses
You can complete the Certificate of Business Essentials through a combination of online and in-classroom courses, or all on the Newark campus. It is possible to complete the Certificate of Business Essentials in one year.
Program Requirements
All courses 3 credits unless stated otherwise.
ECON 100 – Economic Issues and Policies
This requirement may also be met by taking both ECON101 and ECON103.
BUAD 100 – Introduction to Business
This requirement may also be met by taking all three of the following courses: BUAD301, BUAD306, BUAD309.
ACCT 200 – Survey of Accounting (4 credits)
This requirement may also be met by taking both ACCT207 and ACCT208.
FINC 200 – Fundamentals of Finance
This requirement may also be met by taking FINC311.
Registering for Courses
Students must register individually for each of the certificate program’s required courses according to the registration procedures.
