Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland President and CEO joins 2019 Economic Forecast

Loretta Mester will be the keynote speaker at the 2019 Economic Forecast.

Loretta J. Mester, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland will deliver the keynote address during The 2019 Economic Forecast, hosted by the Lyons Companies and the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship (CEEE), on Feb. 19, 2019.

The event will be held in John M. Clayton Hall on UD’s campus, from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The goal of the event is to provide the local Delaware financial community with a better understanding of how the upcoming year’s economic climate will affect local business. The entire Economic Forecast will also be live streamed on the Lerner College Facebook page during this time.

As president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, Mester participates in the formulation of U.S. monetary policy and oversees 950 employees in Cleveland, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh who conduct economic research, supervise banking institutions and provide payment services to commercial banks and the U.S. government. She assumed her role as president and CEO in June 2014.

Mester joins a dynamic panel that also includes Michael K. Farr, author, CNBC contributor and president of Farr, Miller & Washington, LLC and Joan K. Woodward, president, Travelers Institute and executive vice president for public policy with The Travelers Companies, Inc. Each speaker will make opening remarks followed by a discussion about current economic conditions, trends and implications The panel will be moderated by Jon Hilsenrath, chief economic correspondent for The Wall Street Journal.

Launched in 2006 as an employee education workshop, Lyons Companies’ Economic Forecast has since aligned with the UD’s Center for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship at the Lerner College and grown to nearly 600 attendees including Mid-Atlantic business and financial leaders, educators and university students.
