A native of Vijayawada, India., Aman Mohammad graduated from the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics with a master’s degree in business analytics and information management.

Mohammad was nominated for this series by Academic Program Coordinator Sarah Dix. In this profile, Mohammad shares his favorite UD memories, how he has changed during his time at UD and his plans following graduation.

Lerner: How do you think you have changed from your first semester at UD to now?

Mohammad: When I first arrived at UD as an international student, I was navigating a new country, a new academic system and an entirely new way of life, all at once. Over the past two years, I’ve grown not just academically but personally, developing the confidence, resilience and leadership skills that I never knew I had in me.

Lerner: What have been some of the challenges you have faced during your college experience and how did you overcome them?

Mohammad: Adjusting to life in a new country while keeping up with a rigorous academic program was one of the biggest challenges I faced. I overcame it by leaning into the community around me, seeking support from peers and advisors, and channeling my challenges into motivation to work harder and get more involved.

Lerner: What was your favorite signature UD experience and why?

Mohammad: My favorite UD experience has been leading the BAIM GSA as president and organizing events like our Amazon warehouse field trip and the co-hosting international coffee hour. These moments reminded me why I chose UD, not just for the academics, but for the opportunity to build something meaningful alongside my peers.

Lerner: Did you have a Lerner professor or staff member that had a big impact on your UD experience?

Mohammad: Sarah Dix has been an incredible source of support and guidance throughout my time at Lerner. Her genuine investment in student success made me feel seen, heard and valued, and gave me the confidence to take on leadership roles I might not have otherwise pursued.

Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?

Mohammad: To me, being a Lifelong Lerner means carrying the curiosity, drive and sense of community that UD instilled in me long after graduation. It means continuing to grow, give back and stay connected to the values that shaped me during some of the most defining years of my life.

Lerner: What advice would you give to incoming students to make the most out of their college experience?

Mohammad: My biggest advice would be to say yes to opportunities even when they feel uncomfortable or unfamiliar; some of my most defining moments at UD came from stepping outside my comfort zone. Beyond academics, invest in building genuine relationships with your peers, professors and advisors, because the community you build here will carry you further than any grade ever will.

Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?

Mohammad: Following graduation, I plan to apply the analytical and leadership skills I’ve developed at Lerner to a career in business analytics, where I can help organizations make smarter, data-driven decisions. I’m also committed to staying connected to the communities that shaped me and giving back by mentoring the next generation of students the way others have mentored me.
