A native of Delaware, Ebenezer Antwi graduated from the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics with a degree in operations management.

Antwi was nominated for this series by Lerner College Director of Communications Jen Hendrickson. In this profile, Antwi shares his favorite UD memories, how he has changed during his time at UD and his plans following graduation.

Lerner: How do you think you have changed from your first semester at UD to now?

Antwi: I am leaving UD with a greater sense of my identity. I hope to channel who I am and where I come from into advocacy and opportunities for those who will come after me.

Lerner: What have been some of the challenges you have faced during your college experience and how did you overcome them?

Antwi: A challenge that college has helped me overcome is my need to have it all figured out. From switching my major multiple times to having a unique college experience, I realized that mistakes offer growth and detours can result in some of the best relationships and memories.

Lerner: What was your favorite signature UD experience and why?

Antwi: My favorite UD experience is the Black History Month dinner hosted by the Center for Black Culture (CBC) and the Biden Institute. I attended all 4 dinners during my undergrad years, and I loved being surrounded by Black professionals in every career field you can imagine. I built many relationships due to that event, and I can’t wait to return as a table host one day.

Lerner: Did you have a Lerner professor or staff member that had a big impact on your UD experience?

Antwi: Claire O’Neal was my academic advisor and without a doubt, the great advisor of all time. She helped me navigate the many twists and turns that an ambitious, first gen student faces in college and I am thankful for her knowledge guiding me throughout my time at UD.

Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?

Antwi: Being a Lifelong Lerner means being supported by a rich network of students, faculty, and alumni that are equally invested in my personal & professional growth.

Lerner: What advice would you give to incoming students to make the most out of their college experience?

Antwi: Go outside, talk to people, and know that your community exists here on campus.

Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?

Antwi: I will be working full time and pursuing my master’s after a few gap years.
