Lerner: How do you think you have changed from your first semester at UD to now?
Potukuchi: My journey from first semester to graduation at UD has been transformative. As a part-time student, I initially worried about feeling disconnected, but meeting fellow students and engaging in meaningful discussions with professors became the highlight of my experience. These interactions challenged my thinking and broadened my perspective. I’ve grown not just academically, but in confidence and my ability to balance multiple commitments. Looking back, it truly was a great journey that prepared me well for the next chapter.
Lerner: What have been some of the challenges you have faced during your college experience and how did you overcome them?
Potukuchi: As a part-time student, my biggest challenge was balancing coursework with other responsibilities. I overcame this by improving my time management and prioritizing tasks effectively. Another challenge was staying connected to campus life. I addressed this by actively participating in class discussions and building relationships with professors and classmates.
Lerner: What was your favorite signature UD experience and why?
Potukuchi: My favorite UD experiences were the early orientation meetings and the in-person classes where we did team-building activities like potlucks. These moments made me feel truly part of the UD community despite my part-time status.
Lerner: Did you have a Lerner professor or staff member that had a big impact on your UD experience?
Potukuchi: Dr. Haynes. She is always available for clarifications, ensuring that we fully understand the course material. Her thorough instructions on expectations and course information have been invaluable, providing us with a clear roadmap for success. Additionally, her courses fostered numerous opportunities for collaboration with fellow students, particularly in the online format, which enhanced our learning experience.
Lerner: What does being a “Lifelong Lerner” mean to you?
Potukuchi: Being a lifelong learner means staying curious and open to new knowledge even after graduation.
Lerner: What advice would you give to incoming students to make the most out of their college experience?
Potukuchi: My advice is to actively engage and connect with others, even if you’re a part-time student. Don’t hesitate to participate in class discussions, attend orientation events and build relationships with professors and classmates.
Lerner: What are your plans following graduation?
Potukuchi: Since I’m already working, I’m excited to apply my MBA knowledge to further grow in my current career. I look forward to taking on bigger management roles and exploring new opportunities that leverage both my work experience and the skills I’ve developed through this program.
