Transfer Student FAQ

How do I transfer to Lerner College from outside the University of Delaware?
The UD undergraduate admissions office provides comprehensive transfer student information including steps you need to take and requirements by major.
How do I transfer to Lerner from another major at UD?
Guidelines for changing and declaring majors are on the College’s undergraduate advising page.
Will BUAD 110 (Basics of Business First Year Seminar) support my transition to Lerner?
BUAD 110, Lerner’s first-semester introductory business course, introduces you to majors, clubs, Lerner Career Services and more. Depending on your admitted major, you may need an upper-level substitute. Your academic advisor can verify whether any of your transfer credits meet this requirement. For students transferring into Lerner from outside of UD, we highly recommend enrolling in BUEC 101 (Career Exploration & Professional Development), which covers career planning, professional life and understanding the labor market.
Can I get involved in student clubs or study abroad if I am a transfer student?
Yes. Lerner has approximately 30 business-related clubs, and UD offers countless student groups catering to your interests, passion and hobbies. Check out UD’s Student Central website for RSO’s (registered student organizations) and events you can attend.

There are many Lerner study abroad opportunities, including internships abroad, or browse all UD study abroad opportunities for the following year. Your academic advisor can guide you through the study abroad opportunities and help you choose programs that keep you on track to graduate on time.

Can I be a Lerner student and in the Honors College?
Yes. Please see the honors college webpage for details about how to apply to the Honors College when applying to UD.
Will all of my business courses transfer?
With a few exceptions, Lerner will only accept the transfer of business courses at the 300-level or above from schools accredited by AACSB (the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Please refer to the UD transfer matrix to see courses that have been approved in the past. If a course is not listed in the transfer matrix, you will need to submit a syllabus to the relevant department to evaluate the course for a UD equivalent.
Do I need to take another English writing/composition course?
If you have taken a writing course(s) at another college or university, you may be considered for an ENGL 110 exemption. Please review the ENGL 110 transfer credit policy under “Department Specific Transfer Questions.” Students that completed a composition course and earned an Associate’s degree are automatically granted an exemption to ENGL 110.
Are scholarships available to transfer students at Lerner?

Yes, Lerner offers scholarships to transfer students, but you must first establish a UD GPA. You can apply for scholarships after completing your first semester at UD. See the UD additional scholarships webpage for more information on scholarships.
If I'm coming to Lerner through an articulation agreement, will all of my credits transfer?
Yes, if you are transferring through an articulation agreement, all of your credits will transfer. Lerner advisors will review your credits and discuss how they apply to specific major requirements, including any necessary course substitutions.
