The University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics hosted its annual Management Research Summit on January 30 in the FinTech Innovation Hub. The theme of this year’s summit was “Management Research in Times of Uncertainty.”
The event included three keynote presentations from lead scholars in management research: Distinguished University Professor at the University of South Florida Tammy Allen who spoke about “Remote and Hybrid Work: State of the Knowledge on Performance and Wellbeing;” Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Arlington Owen Parker who spoke about “The Elephant in the Room: Government Intervention and Obsolete Theory?;” and Professor of Management at Georgia State University Kris Byron who spoke about “Working Apart, Growing Apart: A Theory of Relational Tensions Across Work Location Arrangements.”
The event was facilitated by Lerner assistant professors of management Stacy Astrove and Beth Schinoff and featured representatives from 18 schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
During the day-long conference, management scholars met with one another, discussed research ideas and created future collaborations for research. In addition, 10 scholars (faculty and Ph.D. students) from local schools participated in “rapid research” presentations where they were given five minutes to briefly present their research and receive feedback through forms filled out by attendees. The day also featured a panel and group discussion about hot takes on management research in times of uncertainty and closed with roundtables and large group remarks.
